Grades 1–2, 3–5, 6–8 Moon phases seem to be taught across the grade levels. My son is in second grade and recently completed a study, which included keeping a moon phase log each evening and creating moon phases using Oreo cookies. Earth has only one moon. If you count all the moons around all the planets in our solar system, there are 61 (Earth has one, Mars has two, Jupiter has 16, Saturn has 18, Uranus has 15, Neptune has 8, and Pluto has one).
